OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

The CNA functions in an interdependent role to deliver care as directed and assist in the revision of care plans in collaboration with the registered nurse. The health services program is designed to respond to each student’s unique developmental health needs, contribute to safe and healthy school environment, ensure that health needs are recognized and planned for in the total school program and meet state and federal health-related requirements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of the principles of CNA and medical terminology.

  2. Knowledge of the principles and practices of aseptic/sterile techniques and infectious disease control.

  3. Knowledge of care and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.

  4. Knowledge of first aid and CPR.

  5. Knowledge of both normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology, psyco/social, and disease entities.

  6. Ability to communicate in person, writing, or on the phone, with students, staff, parents, and volunteers in a diverse environment.

  7. Ability to work under pressure, adjust to varied situations, demands and new health issues.

  8. Ability to learn and integrate policies and procedures adopted by the school building, the District and the State of Washington.

  9. Ability to be entrusted with confidential and sensitive information.

  10. Bilingual Preferred

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Previous experience working with school-age children preferred.

  3. Background check, fingerprinting, and sexual misconduct disclosure release.

CERTIFICATE & LICENSES

  1. Washington State CNA Certificate.

  2. Valid First Aid and CPR Card

  3. Valid Driver’s License and Evidence of Insurability.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting (able to lift 50 pounds and assist in lifting over 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally, the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing.  The job related is performed under a generally hazard-free environment and in a clean atmosphere
